After 78 years of being a private golf club, "The Brookwoods Contry Club" (Formally Ontario Golf Club) is now a Public Facility. Built in 1928, the course is no longer "the best kept secret" in Western New York.

The Brookwoods Country Club offers a rich history – hosting such prestigious events as the US women's Open Qualifier and five New York State amateur championships.  

The championship course has a fully computerized irrigation system that offers 5 set of tees appealing to golfers of all skill levels. Traditionalist will be impressed by this spectacular course known for its pristinely manicured greens and well maintained fairways.

In 1968, noted local golf architect, Pete Craig put the finishing touches on what was then Rochester's newest private course, Thunder Ridge Country Club, in Rush.  In 1978 the course name was changed to Wild Wood Country Club and became semi-private, allowing daily fee play.  Typical of his designs, Craig used much of the hilly wooded terrain and meandering creek to create one of the most picturesque courses in the area.  Wild Wood offers a "picture calendar" of holes for those preferring a challenge in a scenic setting.

 Wild Wood enjoys a Blue Tee course rating of 73.4 and 146 slope, on par with the best private clubs in the area.  The main piece of essential course knowledge is to avoid hitting over the greens.  Several greens have trouble behind them, making club selection crucial.  Craig took full advantage of a creek that winds its way through the back nine.  Water comes in to play on every hole (on the back nine) except the 10th and 18th.  The course rewards you for choosing the right club and staying in the fairways.

The newly remodeled par 72 course plays to 6,701 yards from the tips, so it is getting longer each year by the additions they make each Winter. But the water, long strips of imposing trees and the wind whipping off the lake create barriers to a good score. We are rated the 3rd toughest course in Monroe County (rating done by the RDGA Rochester District Golf Association).

The holes at Brockport CC are designed for all levels of players. The front side is very tight and undulated. You need to sharpen up on your wedge game to master this side. The backside is for the power players so dust off the driver and get ready to "Grip It & Rip It". Beware on the backside because the last five holes are the toughest finishing holes in the county. Starting with # 14 the # 1 handicap hole and finishing on "The Monster " a 555 yard par 5 with wind always ready to hurt each shot.
